A sequence of endless events, stories, personal experiences, or just anonymous events set in timelines referring to the principle of comics, where the characters and cast are more or less familiar faces or just familiar silhouettes, figures cut out of photographs from magazines, books, or posters, often supplemented by the author's series of emphasizing lines in ink, or a new character created by the author, necessary to complete the story. These visually lush surfaces often contain a textual component, the author's rhymes, quotations, and paraphrases, written in the author's typography, consisting of stylized human figures bending into the shapes of letters of the alphabet. Many, but not all, of the works of this exceptionally inventive and productive author, graphic artist, painter, illustrator, draughtsman, collage artist, graphic designer, textile artist, author of monumental works for public spaces and buildings, teacher, and author of experimental poetry, František Blaž, can be briefly described in a similar way. Works that evoke the impression of the author's almost timeless, endless, and ongoing activity alternate with others that are firmly anchored in time. The author's craftsmanship as a draughtsman and illustrator is fully evident in his pastel landscape scenes and graphic portraits of his family, capturing precious family moments on an island by the sea.
The exhibition presents a condensed retrospective selection from the rich oeuvre of František Blaž (1946, Trnava), a member of the large Trnava-Košice artistic family, living in Košice.
