City and Time
The East Slovak Gallery was established on December 7th 1951 and is the oldest regional gallery in Slovakia. This year, we would like to present the visitors of the Night of Museums and Galleries with the secrets hiding behind our work and introduce our institution as a “place in time.” What was the gallery like in the past, and how is it different today? Some great changes have taken place – come and see for yourself!

Do you know the place which hosts the gallery today? Did you know that it used to be located in a different building and that this is not the only building where the East Slovak Gallery exhibits art? Together we will learn about these buildings and we will analyse their architecture just like real historians.
2. Artworks hide their secrets
What is it like to reveal the secrets of pieces of art? Sometimes they lie in depositories for a very long time and we do not know very much about them. However, when they fall into the hands of art restorers, they often start to reveal their secrets.
Where do Art Noveau artists get their inspiration?
Did you know that there are researchers who investigate how artists paint and what inspires them in their work? No? It’s fine! We will work together in the gallery, experience what it is like to be an art investigator and we will also get creative.
