The exhibition project entitled They are given: a park, a fountain, has a specific goal, to bring a new interpretive view of the past of art in the public space of Košice. It responds to the revived interest of the generation born after 1989 in this art, resp. efforts to recapture its quality and, ultimately, to protect it. The project works with imaginative appropriation of works from the period of 60-80 years of the last century and their reinterpretation or reconstruction in new contexts.
However, the environment of the city also serves as an inspirational model for creating completely new relationships between architecture and free art. This author's grasp of the recent past oscillates between the positions of subjectively experienced contact with a specific place, statue, park, etc. to a broader objectifying view of the artistically administered urban landscape in the new historical and political conditions of the city.
The exhibition is the result of a creative dialogue between free artists and architects, it presents tailor-made works, models of sections of the urban landscape - they are a kind of stage for a transposed dialogue between a person, a statue, a building or a park.
